According to my dentist, I needed 2 crowns in my teeth. If I didn't do that, my molars would get worse and possibly rot.

Doesn't seem very pleasant to me.

CZ health insurance bad experience

So I had two crowns placed. 2 x about an hour with the mouth open. Blessed. I knew it would cost money and that the insurer would only cover part of it. I have a dentist plus insurance. So you would think; I pay a little more then I have everything covered.

And so it happened. Dentist ready, I received a bill of over €1,150, of which CZ paid the following:

Confusion prevails

I'm not that smart. I do my best to sell my art. But if my dentist says I need care. Then it must be reimbursed. Regardless of the fine print.

Profit for health insurance

Don't get me wrong. We live in a beautiful country where everything is neatly arranged. But health insurers have a profit motive. I personally find that worrying (pun intended).

Why not a foundation? I also understand that prices and purchasing fluctuate and that caution is required. But why should such an organization, which in fact only has an administrative function, make a profit?

Because, profit is the amount left AFTER everything and everyone has already been paid. The CEOs (source zorgvisie):The top three are Menzis CEO Roger van Boxtel with 391,000 euros, his colleague at CZ with 415,000 euros and the VGZ CEO with 429,000 euros.)

Profit loss CZ last 5 years

2019: 119,000,000 (€119 million)

2020: 174,000,000 (€174 million)

2021: 225,000,000 (€225 million)

2022: loss: 183,000,000 (€183 million)

2023: loss 78,000,000 (€78 million)

So over the last five years CZ has made €225,000,000, 225 million PROFIT. Where is that going?? Hopefully back to the people who work in healthcare.

But anyway. I can afford it, I paid it too. But my crowns still have a nasty aftertaste.
